Before I could announce that we’re going to add Zulip as the next protocol in Pidgin 3, Discord went ahead and decided they were going to add age verification to all users.
We take everyone’s privacy very seriously and Discord had a breach of this type of data less than 6 months ago. So due to all of this, we are going to being winding down or Discord server and replace it with our new Zulip server.
We’re still learning Zulip ourselves so things are going to be in flux for a bit. Right now we’re using a free hosted instance but if becomes necessary we may look into getting it sponsored or start running it ourselves. Regardless, it’s been amazing so far, lots of batteries included moments and best of all it’s all Open Source!!
